Shocking CCTV footage has captured the moment a man was stabbed at a bus stop in Golders Green, north London, in what police have described as a knife attack on Jewish members of the public.
The video shows the victim, an older man, standing by the bus stop in the sunshine and placing a kippah, the traditional Jewish skullcap, on his head. A man wearing a dark jacket then approaches along the pavement, reaches into his clothing, and lunges at the victim. The attacker appears to strike the victim's neck as bystanders rush to help.
According to the Metropolitan Police, two men—one in his 70s and one in his 30s—were stabbed in the incident. Both are believed to be Jewish. The force has launched an investigation.
Rabbi Levi Schapiro, from Stamford Hill's Jewish Community Council (JCC), spoke to the Mirror from the hospital where the victims were taken. He confirmed both are from his area, and one is a teacher working in Golders Green. One victim is in a serious condition, the rabbi said, while the other is stable.
Rabbi Schapiro described the attack as a terrible blow to the community. He said, 'This is a terrible attack on our community. This happening every day and for many of us it feels like there is no end in sight.' He also noted that the four ambulances burned the previous week would have been responding to this incident.
The attack has heightened concerns about the safety of Jewish people in London, with community leaders calling for increased protection and vigilance.
