The BBC daytime programme Doorbell Detectives, presented by Matt Allwright, has returned for a second series on BBC One. The broadcaster promises viewers will be gripped by extraordinary real-life stories captured on doorbell and CCTV footage from across the UK.
What is Doorbell Detectives?
The show, which first aired last year, aims to fight neighbourhood crime by showcasing how doorbell cameras can help deter criminals and assist in solving crimes. From the Incident Room in Manchester, Allwright and former Inspector Anton listen firsthand to victims' stories, unpacking how the rise in doorbell footage leads to real differences in crime deterrence.
Remarkable Stories in Series Two
In one shocking case, an elderly couple slept soundly while a thief broke into their bungalow and searched through their belongings. Their doorbell camera footage alerted their daughter to the overnight intrusion, potentially keeping the couple safe from further danger.
Another remarkable story features an eight-time karate world champion who spotted a car thief sneaking around their property on their doorbell camera. When the thief returned the next day, the champion used their karate skills to physically restrain the suspect until police arrived.
