A former contestant from a popular reality dating show has appeared before a magistrate on a series of serious criminal charges, including the alleged attempted burning of a medical centre and assaulting a police officer.
Court Appearance for Serious Allegations
Cayla Tudehope, aged 34, who starred in the 2018 season of Channel 10's The Bachelor, stood in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Tuesday. The charges stem from alleged incidents that took place on December 11 in the Sunshine Coast region of Queensland.
The most severe allegation is that Tudehope attempted to 'wilfully and unlawfully set fire to a building, namely, a health facility' in Nambour. On the same day, she is also accused of using a Telstra carriage service in a manner considered 'menacing, harassing, or offensive'.
Furthermore, it is alleged she assaulted a police officer who was executing their duties at Yandina Creek. The court granted Tudehope bail and adjourned all three matters until February 2, 2026.
From Reality TV Romance to Legal Troubles
Cayla Tudehope first entered the public eye on Nick 'The Honey Badger' Cummins' season of The Bachelor, competing alongside notable contestants like Brittany Hockley and Brooke Blurton. She quickly made an impression with her unique approach.
Her introductory moment involved presenting Cummins with a rose quartz crystal, which she said she had used to attract 'love and marriage'. She gifted it to him, stating she had put 'intentions in it for you to find your wifey'. Cummins later remarked she was 'definitely one of a kind'.
Despite her memorable start, she did not win his heart. After the show, Tudehope, who works as an energy healer and crystal jewellery designer, spoke openly on social media about her struggles with anxiety. In a now-deleted Instagram post, she described anxiety as stemming from uncontrollable life events and advocated for 'releasing control to the universe' to manage it.
Life After the Spotlight
In recent years, Tudehope has maintained a lower profile on social media, primarily using her platforms to promote her crystal jewellery business, Loveloons. Her recent court appearance marks a stark departure from her reality television persona and her current professional focus on wellness and healing.
The case will return to court in early 2026, where the allegations against the former reality star will be addressed in full.
