Police in the United States have made a significant arrest in connection with the mysterious double murder of an Ohio dentist and his wife. The ex-husband of the female victim is now in custody and charged with two counts of murder.
Arrest Made Over a Week After Killings
Michael McKee, aged 31, was taken into custody and booked at the Winnebago County Jail in Illinois just before noon on Saturday, 10 January 2026. His arrest comes more than a week after the bodies of Monique Tepe, 39, and Spencer Tepe, 37, were discovered in their Columbus home.
Court documents from the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas confirm that McKee was previously married to Monique Tepe. The arrest followed an intensive investigation where detectives obtained crucial surveillance footage from the neighbourhood surrounding the crime scene.
Vehicle Tracking Led to Breakthrough
According to reports, police secured an arrest warrant after tracing a vehicle linked to McKee. Neighbourhood security video showed the car arriving at the area shortly before the killings and departing shortly after the fatal shootings took place.
Detectives identified the vehicle and connected it to McKee. The investigation later led them to Rockford, Illinois, where the car was located. Authorities state they found evidence in Illinois that tied McKee definitively to the ownership of the vehicle.
Court Appearance Scheduled
Michael McKee is now formally facing two counts of murder for the deaths of his ex-wife, Monique Tepe, and her husband, Spencer Tepe, who worked as a dentist. He is currently being held on an out-of-state hold from Ohio.
McKee is scheduled to appear in court on Monday following his arrest. The case has drawn considerable attention due to the brutal nature of the crime and the apparent personal connections involved.
Police have not yet released a potential motive for the shootings. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to piece together the events leading up to the tragic incident in Columbus.
