Florida Officer's Heroic Rescue: Woman Pulled from Burning Car After Carjacking

In a heart-stopping incident captured on bodycam, a brave police officer from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office in Florida rescued a woman from a burning vehicle just seconds before it became completely engulfed in flames. The dramatic rescue unfolded on February 8, 2026, following a violent carjacking that left the victim trapped inside the fiery wreck.

The Terrifying Sequence of Events

The ordeal began when a suspect, identified as 34-year-old Richard Younger, allegedly carjacked a woman's vehicle with her one-year-old child still in the back seat. Officers located the stolen car just a few streets away, but when police attempted to stop it, the suspect crashed into another vehicle, causing a fiery collision.

Deputy Almin Residovic, responding to the scene, did not hesitate and immediately ran towards the struck car, which was already burning. In the gripping footage, Residovic can be heard urgently asking another officer for a tool to break the window before managing to pull the door open. Inside, he found the woman with her hair on fire, breathing heavily and in desperate need of assistance.

A Race Against Time

Residovic dragged the woman to safety, later exclaiming to a colleague that he "got to her just in time" as the vehicle became fully engulfed. The rescued woman, who was reportedly forcibly carjacked earlier, was heard breathing heavily but conscious. Remarkably, a 14-year-old had managed to escape the vehicle before police arrived, and the one-year-old child was safely removed from the stolen car without injury.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office commended Residovic's actions, stating in a social media post: "We are incredibly proud of Officer Residovic’s courage and the swift, coordinated response of all the officers involved." They added that the woman saved by Residovic expressed being "incredibly grateful to be alive and for the quick actions taken" by the deputy.

Suspect Faces Multiple Charges

Richard Younger was arrested at the crash scene and now faces a series of serious charges, including:

  • Carjacking
  • Leaving the scene of a crash without rendering aid
  • Aggravated fleeing from law enforcement after a crash
  • False imprisonment of a child under 13 years of age

Police allege that Younger was responsible for "causing a fiery wreck that left an innocent driver trapped inside a burning car." The rescued woman continues her recovery, while the community hails Deputy Residovic as a hero for his selfless and timely intervention.
