Five people have been arrested following a series of shootings in Huddersfield that left a 24-year-old man with serious injuries. The attacks, described by police as targeted, occurred over several days last week.
The most recent incident took place on Sunday afternoon when a man was shot in the back with a shotgun near a hairdresser's on Birkby Hall Road. Two boys aged 16 and 17, along with a 19-year-old man, were arrested in connection with this shooting and have been released on police bail.
On the previous day, a house on Scott Vale was shot at with a handgun. A 24-year-old man from Huddersfield was arrested in relation to this incident and has been released pending further investigation.
Earlier, on Wednesday, a shotgun was fired at a house on Clara Street. A 19-year-old man, also from Huddersfield, was arrested shortly after the incident after a dark blue Volkswagen Golf was spotted nearby.
Detective Chief Inspector Jaz Khan of West Yorkshire Police appealed for information, particularly about the vehicles involved. He urged anyone with details to come forward.
