A man found dead in Kirkby has been named locally as floral tributes were left at the scene. Emergency services responded to Kersey Road on Saturday, June 27, after reports of a death.
Police Response and Investigation
Merseyside Police officers were called to the street at approximately 12:50 PM following a report from the North West Ambulance Service that a man in his 30s had been found dead. A cordon was established on Saturday afternoon on Kersey Road and parts of Broad Lane, with a white tent erected at the scene.
The death is being treated as unexplained while investigations continue. A police spokesperson told the ECHO on Monday: 'A post-mortem has been carried out and the cause of his death has been withheld pending toxicology reports.'
Tributes and Witness Accounts
Floral tributes left at the scene named the man as 'Kyle'. One tribute read: 'Our mate Kyle. RIP lad. Love ye always, Tony.' Another stated: 'Broken. We love and miss you. All our love.' The focus of emergency services appeared to be outside a row of terraced houses on the corner of Kersey Road and Broad Lane.
An eyewitness told the ECHO that a friend had found the man in the street with 'facial injuries' and alleged he was not wearing shoes. Another witness living near the cordon reported seeing 'a man lying on the floor'.
Forensic Work and Appeals
Police forensic teams were observed working inside the cordon, while detectives conducted CCTV and witness enquiries. Merseyside Police urged anyone with information to contact investigators by calling 101, quoting log 513 of June 27. Anonymous tips can also be submitted via Crimestoppers.
