A significant search operation is currently in progress at Pickmere Lake, situated near Knutsford, following reports that a teenage boy has gone missing after entering the water. Emergency services, including police officers, fire crews, search and rescue teams, and paramedics, have all been dispatched to the location.
Incident Details
The alert was raised shortly before 5:00 PM on the evening of 26 May 2026. Social media posts and images have revealed a substantial emergency presence at the lake, with pathways surrounding the area cordoned off to facilitate the search efforts.
It is understood that the teenager entered the water and subsequently failed to resurface, prompting a comprehensive search of the vicinity. As of now, no further updates regarding the individual's condition have been released.
Official Statements
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police stated: "Emergency services are in attendance at Pickmere Lake following reports of a missing teenage boy. Officers are making a search of the area with assistance from the police helicopter, and Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service."
They added: "Members of the public are asked to avoid the area while emergency services work at the scene. Anyone with information should contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 2336977."
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service also issued a statement, confirming that five fire engines, a rapid response unit, a technical rescue unit, and a boat unit were deployed as part of the water rescue mission. The statement read: "Firefighters were called to reports of a person who had entered the water in Pickmere Lake, near Knutsford. On arrival, firefighters deployed a rescue boat and water rescue firefighters to assist partner emergency services in searching the area for the missing individual."
They concluded: "Firefighters and emergency services are still in attendance at the scene and further updates will be provided when available."
