A 50-year-old man has died in hospital five days after being assaulted outside a pub in Sidcup, south-east London. Stuart Tickner was found unconscious on Station Road at around 1am on Monday, 25 May, and was taken to hospital with life-threatening head injuries.
Despite medical treatment, Mr Tickner died on Saturday, 30 May. The Metropolitan Police said his next-of-kin are being supported by specially trained officers.
A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He presented at hospital the day after the assault and continues to receive medical treatment. Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Mr Tickner's daughter, Megan, paid tribute to him on Facebook, describing him as a 'bubbly, joyful soul' who 'lit up any room he walked into'. She said she would cherish memories of going to concerts and singing karaoke with him.
Superintendent Kier Newman, of the South East Borough Command Unit, said: 'Our thoughts are with the victim’s loved ones following this tragic incident. The initial assault occurred outside a public house on a residential road, and we are keen to speak to anyone in the area who witnessed anything.'
