A Lancashire Police spokesperson told LancsLive: "We were called at about 4.30pm yesterday (Friday, June 26) to a report that a man had been seen with a potential stab wound on Kay Street in Rawtenstall. Officers attended and the man, in his 30s, was taken to hospital suffering from a small puncture wound to his side. The injury is not life threatening. Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting log 1152 of yesterday."

Photos from Rawtenstall town centre and the market showed an air ambulance alongside police at the scene, with paramedics working within a cordon. A section of the bus station was also cordoned off. A Rossendale Borough Council spokesperson said the market had been closed due to the incident and urged people to avoid the area.
