A manhunt is underway for an 'armed and dangerous' suspect after a University of Washington student was discovered fatally stabbed in a laundry room at a student housing complex. Police responded to Nordheim Court at approximately 10:10 p.m. on Sunday following reports of a stabbing.

Victim and Suspect Details

According to the Seattle Police Department, the victim is believed to be a 19-year-old transgender female, though formal identification is pending from the King County Medical Examiner. Officers and Seattle Fire Department personnel attempted life-saving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect, described as a Black male aged 25 to 30, approximately 5 feet 6 to 8 inches tall, with a beard, and wearing a vest, button-up shirt, and blue jeans, fled before authorities arrived. University Response

University of Washington President Robert J. Jones expressed condolences, saying, 'There are no words that can express the profound loss of a student.' He acknowledged the concern within the LGBTQIA+ community, noting that violence affecting a trans person is especially worrying. Support services are being offered to students affected by the incident.

University spokesperson Victor Balta confirmed that Greystar, the operator of Nordheim Court, is collaborating with the UW to ensure residents receive support. During the investigation, residents were initially advised to shelter in place via the UW Alert system, but the order was lifted at 12:56 a.m., though the death investigation continues.

Police urge anyone with information to come forward as they work to apprehend the suspect and bring them to justice.
