Murder Probe After Bus Driver Assaulted on Battersea Bridge

A murder investigation has been launched by the Metropolitan Police following the death of a bus driver who was assaulted on Battersea Bridge in London.

Victim Identified

Sergei Krajev, 64, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, after sustaining injuries during an incident on Monday, May 18. Police were called to Battersea Bridge at 12:33 AM following reports of an assault.

Emergency Response

Officers arrived at the scene and provided emergency first aid to the victim. He was subsequently airlifted to a London hospital by the London Air Ambulance but died from his injuries the following day.

Arrest and Charges

Gary Jones, 32, of Hospital Bridge Road, Twickenham, was arrested at the scene. Later that day, he appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court, where he was charged with causing grievous bodily harm. He was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Kingston Crown Court on Monday, June 15.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are appealing for any witnesses or individuals with dashcam footage to come forward.
