Arrest Made in Connection with the Incident
A 45-year-old man has been apprehended on suspicion of murder and other related offences. He was arrested near the scene of a road collision on Carn Road, close to Tempo, and remains in police custody as inquiries progress.
Detective Chief Inspector Gary Robinson, from the Major Investigation Team, detailed the sequence of events. "Police received a report that a man driving a grey Nissan Juke was involved in a collision on Carn Road, near Tempo, at approximately 9.15pm on Saturday," he stated. "Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle, but the driver had already fled the scene."
Further investigations revealed that the car was registered to an address on Corban Avenue in Enniskillen. When officers visited that location, they discovered the body of the young woman.
Police Appeal for Information and Community Reassurance
Detective Chief Inspector Robinson has issued a public appeal for information. "Our detectives are working diligently to establish the full circumstances surrounding the woman's death," he said. "I urge anyone with information that could assist our investigation to come forward."
Police are particularly interested in hearing from individuals who were travelling on Cornagrade Road into Corban Avenue between 6.30pm and 10.45pm on Saturday evening and noticed anything unusual or suspicious.
Fermanagh and Omagh District Commander Superintendent Pete Cunningham expressed his condolences and sought to reassure the local community. "First and foremost, my thoughts are with the victim's family and friends as they struggle to come to terms with this devastating loss," he remarked.
Superintendent Cunningham emphasized the police's commitment to addressing violence against women and girls. "As a victim-focused organisation, incidents like this are a priority, and we understand the significant concern they generate. We are doing everything possible to ensure women and girls feel safe in our communities."
