Paulina Porizkova is facing an unexpected eviction from her New York City apartment, with the deadline set for the end of June — merely four days before her scheduled wedding to fiancé Jeff Greenstein in Italy. The 61-year-old Czech-born model shared the distressing news on her podcast Twenty Good Summers on Tuesday, revealing that her landlord refused to extend her lease despite her six years of exemplary tenancy.
Eviction Adds Stress to Wedding Preparations
Porizkova described the situation as “incredibly stressful,” noting that it undermines the joy she should be feeling about marrying the 62-year-old Emmy-winning producer after a three-year courtship. She moved into the Manhattan residence in January 2021 after spending the early part of the COVID-19 pandemic in an Upstate New York home she co-owns with her adult sons, John and Oliver.
The silver-haired model and writer still feels traumatized from having to sell the $10 million Gramercy Park townhouse she shared for decades with her late husband, Ric Ocasek. The Cars frontman died in 2019 at age 75, and his body was discovered in that home. Their 27-year marriage ended in 2017, and Ocasek cut her from his will; she later settled with his estate in 2021, receiving a third of his fortune under New York state law.
Greenstein’s Sacrifice and Tension
Greenstein, who moved from Los Angeles to New York to live with Porizkova four months after they met in February 2023, expressed frustration. He noted that he made a “big sacrifice” by leaving his home of 38 years. “Emotionally, this is just a way in which we’re not in sync,” he said on his podcast I Dream of Cameras. Porizkova countered, “I don’t feel like you’ve done any sacrificing or any big gestures. I think when you sell your house in LA, you will be equal to my predicament.”
The couple, who connected on the dating app Raya, plan to temporarily live at her Upstate home or his LA home until they find a new New York apartment. They have completed the paperwork to marry in Italy in the first week of July, after applying seven months ago.
Since February, Porizkova and Greenstein have been rehearsing their first dance as a married couple, learning to waltz at the Fred Astaire Dance Studios. Greenstein, who has an adult son from a prior 25-year marriage, last worked as a consulting producer and director on the NBC sitcom Extended Family in 2024. He previously worked on Friends, Will & Grace, Desperate Housewives, and Parenthood. Porizkova will next appear in the AI dramedy O Horizon, hitting US theaters on June 12, alongside Maria Bakalova, David Strathairn, Adam Pally, and Maggie Grace.
