Ricky Martin's concert in Montenegro was abruptly interrupted on Thursday evening when an individual sprayed tear gas toward the stage. The Puerto Rican singer-songwriter, 54, is safe, according to his publicist Róndine Alcalá, who confirmed the incident in a statement shared on Instagram.
Incident Details
Alcalá described an 'abrupt interruption of the show as audience members moved away from the area and received assistance.' She added that Martin and his team are 'grateful for the support and concern received following tonight's events.' Authorities quickly contained the situation, allowing Martin to return to the stage and continue his performance.
Safety Measures and Show Resumption
As a precaution, Martin and his entire team exited the stage while security and local authorities worked to ensure safety. Despite advice from team members against continuing, Martin decided to resume the show to fulfill his commitment to fans after authorities confirmed it was safe.
The publicist noted that upcoming shows on his Ricky Martin Live tour will proceed as scheduled. The tour includes performances across eight countries in Europe and additional international dates.
Tour Schedule
Martin is set to resume his tour in mid-June with concerts in Moldova, Serbia, Croatia, and Italy. On June 24, he will perform at the Pully Live Festival in Switzerland, followed by stops in Oberhausen, Germany, and Prague, Czech Republic. In July, he will perform in Hungary, Turkiye, Georgia, and Kazakhstan, and on August 20 at the Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, Illinois.
Martin has been touring continuously, including a Super Bowl Halftime Show performance with Bad Bunny in February. Last month, he performed in Buenos Aires, Argentina, joined by his 17-year-old twin sons Valentino and Matteo, who often accompany him on tour.
Family and Personal Life
Martin also shares daughter Lucia, seven, and son Renn, six, with ex-husband Jwan Yosef. While accepting the Latin Icon Award at the 2025 VMAs, he dedicated the honor to his four children, saying, 'Everything I do, I do with you in my mind and in my heart.' Martin and Yosef separated in 2023 but maintain a healthy co-parenting relationship.
