A 16-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of a 15-year-old who was fatally stabbed following disorder at a house party in Hackney. The teenager, who cannot be identified for legal reasons due to his age, was charged on Friday with the murder of Brayan David Saldarriaga. He has also been charged with possession of a bladed article and is scheduled to appear at Thames Magistrates' Court today.
Details of the Incident
Police were called at 7.17pm on Monday, May 25, following reports of a large gathering, disorder, and sightings of individuals carrying machetes in Towpath Walk, E9. Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance. Emergency services found Brayan, from Haringey, suffering from stab wounds in nearby Poplar Close.
Chaos at the Scene
The stabbing occurred after a fight spilled out of a house party in north-east London. Teenagers and other partygoers were seen screaming and running from the scene in panic, including people fleeing towards Hackney Marshes. Witnesses reported seeing a person dressed in black carrying what appeared to be a large machete and running towards the crowd as people fled.
Victim and Investigation
Despite efforts to save him, Brayan was pronounced dead at the scene. His family continues to receive support from specially trained officers. Detectives are continuing their investigation and have appealed for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
