A tree fell onto a house in St Clair Shores, Michigan, during stormy weather just one day after the property was sold to a new owner. Martin Ender, the previous owner, had finalized the sale, but a nearby tree was knocked over and damaged the house. 'I can't believe how bad it was. I just thought it was the awning, but it's way beyond the awning,' Ender told WXYZ.
Incident Details
Ender said some neighbors claimed to have seen lightning hit the tree, while others attributed the damage to high winds on the night of the incident. No injuries were reported, but the situation has left Ender in a difficult financial position. 'This is all I've seen is in the dark. I haven't seen it in daylight, so I'll have to come back in the morning and go through it and see what we can do,' he told the broadcaster.
Financial Responsibility
Typically, home buyers have a short grace period for due diligence after agreeing to purchase a home, during which they can withdraw from the sale. Unless an agreement was made with the buyer, Ender will likely bear the cost of repairs. The tree damaged a significant portion of the home, including the awning and more, leaving Ender to navigate insurance claims and potential legal implications.
