A United Airlines flight was compelled to execute an emergency landing following an incident involving an allegedly unruly passenger who attempted to force entry into the cockpit. The aircraft, operating as United UA2005, had departed from Chicago and was en route to Minneapolis on Friday evening when it was diverted to Dane County Regional Airport in Madison, Wisconsin.
Incident Details
The diversion occurred halfway through the journey after a passenger became disruptive, as confirmed by airline officials. Multiple individuals on board took to social media to report that the individual was shouting in Russian, and a physical altercation ensued mid-flight. The situation escalated to the point where the flight crew deemed it necessary to alter course and land at the nearest suitable airport.
Response and Aftermath
Upon landing, law enforcement officers boarded the aircraft and escorted a man in a blue shirt off the plane, as depicted in images shared online. The passenger was taken into custody, and no injuries were reported among passengers or crew. The flight subsequently continued to its intended destination of Minneapolis after the disruptive individual was removed.
United Airlines issued a statement thanking passengers for their patience and cooperation, and confirmed that the matter is under investigation by local authorities. The Federal Aviation Administration has been notified and will review the incident as part of standard protocol.
