A photo of a Burbank police officer affectionately holding a French bulldog while on duty has gone viral, charming social media users worldwide. The image, shared by the Burbank Police Department on Instagram, shows Officer Parks cradling one pup as another relieves itself in the background.
The department captioned the post: 'During a call for service, Ofcr Parks was greeted by two lovely frenchies! He could not resist petting, holding & snapping a photo with them! Police officers love dogs.' Since its posting, the photo has garnered over 274,000 likes and nearly 4,000 comments.
While Officer Parks focused on the dogs, many commenters expressed admiration for the officer himself. One user wrote, 'I identify as a dog if Officer Park wants to pick me up too,' while another joked, 'Nah yall wrong for dropping his name but not his number.' Some users invented emergencies requiring his assistance, such as 'I need cpr all of a sudden' and 'I just lost my dogs in Burbank requesting Officer Parks help.'
The Burbank Police Department has embraced the positive reaction, sharing news articles about the viral post on its Instagram story with songs like 'My Hero' by the Foo Fighters and 'Paparazzi' by Lady Gaga. A department spokesperson told The Independent: 'We’ve enjoyed seeing the positive response... moments like this highlight the human side of the badge.'
This is not the first time a California police photo has captured public attention. In 2014, the mugshot of Jeremy Meeks, posted by the Stockton Police Department, went viral and later led to a modelling career after his release from prison.
