Woman Found Dead in Rochdale, Man Arrested for Murder

A heartbroken family has paid tribute to a 44-year-old woman found dead on an estate, as a man is arrested on suspicion of murder. Keeley Aspinall, known to friends as Kiki, was discovered by police at a flat in Tweedale Street, Rochdale, at around 4pm on Monday following welfare concerns. She was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Greater Manchester Police have since arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of murder. The grieving family released a statement reading: 'Gone too soon... we can't believe you are gone. We will always love you and miss you, love all your family xx.'

A friend described Ms Aspinall as being 'like a sister' and said she would 'always be in my heart.' The friend added: 'She was the best friend anyone could ask for. I'm going to miss her so much.'

Officers remained at the estate until Monday afternoon, with the flat at the Hartlebury block cordoned off. Police conducted door-to-door enquiries, and forensics investigators were also seen at the scene. The force said there would be a heightened police presence in the area as investigations continue.

Temporary Detective Chief Superintendent Jamie Daniels, from GMP's Major Incident Team, said: 'We appreciate this incident may cause distress among the public and local community. I want to reassure you that we believe this to be an isolated incident, posing no further risk to the wider public. We understand the severity of such events, and while we are in very early stages, our officers will work tirelessly to establish the full details of this tragic death. A scene will remain in place, and there will be an increased police presence over the coming days.'
