A young woman has tragically lost her life after being struck by a utility vehicle on a busy motorway in Queensland. The incident occurred on the Pacific Motorway at Loganlea, south of Brisbane, on Monday afternoon.
Details of the Incident
The woman, driving a white Audi hatchback, was involved in a minor collision with a black MG station wagon in a northbound lane at approximately 3:40 pm. After pulling over and exchanging details with the other driver, she was returning to her vehicle when a white Isuzu dual cab ute struck her.
The woman, aged in her 30s, sustained critical injuries and died at the scene. The driver of the ute is assisting police with their inquiries, and no charges have been filed at this time.
Traffic Disruption and Additional Collisions
The fatal crash followed two separate collisions on the same motorway, including a 10-car pile-up that caused major traffic delays. The Pacific Motorway was closed to all traffic for five hours as the Forensic Crash Unit investigated the scene. Motorists reported that the delays added hours to their journey home, with traffic backed up for more than 10 kilometres for about three hours after the crash.
One commuter wrote online, 'Took me four hours to get home from Coomera to Loganholme.'
Appeal for Witnesses
Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage to contact Policelink or Crime Stoppers.
Weather Conditions and Road Safety Concerns
Motorists have been urged to exercise caution after south-east Queensland received a month's worth of rain on Monday, sparking widespread flash flooding and flood warnings for the Nerang and Coomera rivers. The Gold Coast hinterland recorded 200mm within 24 hours, while Brisbane experienced widespread falls of 50mm to 70mm.
So far in 2026, more than 110 people have died on Queensland roads, a 29 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.
