Two women have been formally charged following the grim discovery of a man's body inside a vehicle at a business park in Cornwall. The charges specifically relate to the offence of preventing a lawful and decent burial.
Discovery at Helston Business Park
The incident centres on the remains of a man found at an industrial estate in Helston, Cornwall, back in December 2024. Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed that the man, who was in his 60s and originally from the Avon and Somerset region, was pronounced deceased at the scene. A subsequent inquest formally identified the deceased as Glen Manders, aged 66, from Somerset.
Arrests and Charges
Following the discovery, two women were initially arrested on suspicion of several serious offences. These included murder, wilful neglect of a person without mental capacity, and the charge of preventing a lawful burial. The individuals charged are Dinah Manders, 88, of Weirfield Road, Exeter, and Rosemary Manders, 53, of Upton Lane, Ilminster, Somerset.
However, police have since confirmed that no further action will be taken against the two women regarding the allegations of murder and wilful neglect. The sole charge they now face is that of preventing a lawful and decent burial.
Upcoming Court Appearance
Dinah Manders and Rosemary Manders are scheduled to appear before magistrates in Truro on 26 March. This court date will mark the next formal step in the legal proceedings concerning the burial charge. The case has drawn attention due to the unusual circumstances of the discovery on the industrial estate and the familial connections suggested by the shared surname.
The investigation, led by Devon and Cornwall Police, continues to examine the full circumstances surrounding the death of Glen Manders and the subsequent handling of his remains. Authorities have not released further details regarding a potential motive or the exact timeline of events leading to the discovery in Helston.
