Italian Authorities Seize €20 Million in Assets Tied to Ursula Andress Embezzlement

Italian financial crimes police have executed a significant asset seizure, confiscating €20 million (£17.3 million) worth of property in Tuscany. The assets, which include real estate, vineyards, and olive groves, are alleged to have been purchased with money embezzled from the renowned actor Ursula Andress.

Complaint and Investigation Details

Andress, now 90 years old, filed a formal complaint in her native Switzerland, reporting a progressive and significant depletion of her assets by individuals entrusted with managing her finances. According to a statement released by Italy's financial crimes police on Thursday, prosecutors in the Swiss canton of Vaud uncovered evidence of a systematic misappropriation of financial resources valued at approximately 18 million Swiss francs.

This illicit activity was carried out through numerous opaque transactions, prompting Swiss authorities to trace the funds to Italy. Prosecutors in Florence subsequently took charge of the case, with police meticulously following the paper trail to uncover the assets.

Asset Seizure in Tuscany

The investigation led authorities to San Casciano in Val di Pesa, near Florence, where they identified a real-estate complex comprising 11 units and 14 plots of land used for vineyards and olive groves. Additionally, works of art and other valuable assets were linked to the embezzled funds.

In response, the judge for preliminary investigations at the Florence court fully endorsed the prosecution's position, ordering the seizure of the entire illicit profit up to the amount of 18 million Swiss francs. This enforcement action targets the identified assets, ensuring they are held accountable for the alleged financial crimes.

Notably, the police statement did not identify any specific suspects in connection with the case, leaving further details under investigation.

Ursula Andress's Career Legacy

Ursula Andress rose to international fame following her iconic performance in the 1962 James Bond film Dr No. In a memorable scene, she emerged from the sea onto a Caribbean beach wearing a white bikini, with a knife at her hip and seashells in hand. This role opposite Sean Connery launched a successful career in film and television that spanned over two decades, cementing her status as a cultural icon.

The current legal proceedings highlight a stark contrast to her glamorous on-screen persona, underscoring the vulnerabilities faced by public figures in managing their financial affairs.
