A former nursery worker in London, already awaiting sentencing for dozens of sexual attacks on young children, is now facing a further 15 criminal charges.
Previous Guilty Pleas for Heinous Crimes
Vincent Chan, 45, from Finchley, had previously pleaded guilty to 26 separate offences committed between 2022 and 2024. These shocking crimes included the sexual assault of four girls, all aged between two and four years old, at the north London nursery where he was employed.
His earlier convictions also related to the possession, making, and taking of more than 25,000 indecent images of children. The nursery, operated by Bright Horizons in West Hampstead, has since closed down.
Fresh Charges for Earlier Alleged Offences
The Metropolitan Police have now charged Chan with 15 additional offences, which are understood to pre-date the crimes for which he has already been convicted. These new charges do not relate to the nursery setting.
The fresh allegations include nine counts of taking an indecent photograph or pseudo-photograph of a child, some of which fall into the most severe category. He also faces six counts of committing acts outraging public decency. The charges relate to nine different girls.
Ongoing Police Investigation
Chan remains in custody as he awaits sentencing for his initial 26 convictions. That list of crimes included five counts of sexual assault by penetration of a child under five, four other sexual assaults, 11 charges of taking indecent photos, and six counts of making indecent images.
The police have confirmed their investigation is ongoing, indicating authorities are continuing to pursue all lines of enquiry related to this case. The new charges highlight the extensive nature of the alleged offending, which spans different locations and time periods.
This case has sent shockwaves through the local community and raised serious questions about safeguarding procedures within childcare settings. The upcoming court proceedings for the new charges will be followed closely as the full extent of Chan's actions is examined.
