Newcastle Sex Offender Jailed Seven Years for Assault

A man has been jailed for seven years for a sexual assault in North Tyneside. Adam Rose, now 29, was sentenced at Newcastle Crown Court on Wednesday, June 24, after a jury found him guilty last month.

Details of the Assault

The victim-survivor had been on a night out in Newcastle city centre when she was invited to a property by people she met earlier that evening. The sexual assault was reported to the police that morning, leading to Rose's swift arrest.

Forensic Evidence Leads to Conviction

Rose denied the offence during two police interviews but was subsequently charged after forensic evidence linked him to the crime. Following a trial at Newcastle Crown Court, a jury found him guilty. In addition to the seven-year prison sentence, Rose will remain on the Sex Offenders’ Register for the rest of his life.

Detective's Praise for Victim

Detective Constable Phillip Trotter, who led the investigation for Northumbria Police, praised the victim's bravery. He stated: 'I’d firstly like to highlight the bravery of the woman in this case – whose bravery from that first report and through the criminal justice process has been unwavering.'

DC Trotter added: 'The courage and determination they have shown throughout this process has ultimately led us to holding Rose to account for the disgusting attack he carried out. It is a great result for us to get him behind bars and whilst no sentence can eliminate what the victim-survivor has been through – I hope it can provide some closure and help them move forward.'

Police Urge Victims to Come Forward

DC Trotter emphasized that no one should experience such abuse and encouraged victims to seek support. 'Please know, if you’ve been a victim of any form of abuse – we are here for you and we will support you,' he said.

Northumbria Police urges anyone who has experienced sexual abuse, whether recent or non-recent, to contact them via social media direct message, live chat, or the 'report' pages on their website. Alternatively, call 101. For more information about sexual assault, search Northumbria Police online.
