Eight Men Admit Guilt in Horrific Magaluf Gang Rape of British Teen

A group of eight men, described as a "wolf pack," have pleaded guilty to the horrific gang rape of an 18-year-old British woman at a Spanish resort in Magaluf. The attackers laughed loudly, spat on their victim, and filmed the entire assault, which was then shared on social media platforms.

Disturbing Details of the Attack

The brutal incident occurred on August 14, 2023, at the BH Mallorca Resort in room 108. The young British woman, who had been drinking heavily, fell into an unconscious state during the half-hour-long assault. Court documents reveal that her attackers surrounded her, yelling obscene threats and horrific comments while recording the violence on their mobile phones.

Five of the men penetrated their victim, with sentences ranging from nine to eleven years depending on the severity of their actions. Another admitted to sexual assault without penetration and received a four-year prison term. All eight defendants confessed to filming the gang rape, with two specifically sharing the footage on Snapchat to humiliate their victim further.

The Perpetrators and Their Sentences

The group consisted of seven French nationals and one Swiss man. French tourists Khalil Abderrahmen Mejbri and Romain Charles Michel Galatioto were among those who orally penetrated the unconscious teenager. Galatioto committed this act seven times while the victim was naked except for her bra.

Frenchman Anthony Guy Gerard Wengler and Swiss national Lucas Haiaiel Ngandjeu Djamen Tchatchou raped her at least once, along with French national Thomas Eric Coretin Wisniewski. Wengler and Tchatchou also spat on the young woman and physically assaulted her alongside Mejbri, after another attacker, Satilmis Sahan, slapped her.

French nationals Anthony Auque and Mouhamadou Wade watched the entire attack without intervening, joining in the verbal abuse and threats. The plea agreement signed by all eight men stated they recorded videos focusing on their victim's private parts and forced her to perform sexual acts while she was semi-conscious or unconscious.

Legal Proceedings and Consequences

The men faced potential prison sentences totaling over 150 years if convicted at trial, but they accepted a plea deal resulting in combined sentences of just over 73 years. Mejbri and Wisniewski received nine-year sentences for sexual assault with carnal access, while Wengler, Tchatchou, and Galatioto were handed eleven-year terms for the same offense.

Sahan received four years for sexual assault without penetration. All eight men received additional sentences of two years and three months each for filming the attack. Three of the attackers had already been granted bail before the trial and remain free, with at least two unlikely to return to prison due to time served on remand.

The remaining five defendants are in prison awaiting a hearing next month, where their lawyers will request their expulsion from Spain after serving part of their sentences. The graphic footage recorded by the attackers proved crucial in their arrests and subsequent prosecution, highlighting how their own documentation of the crime led to their downfall.

This case has shocked communities in both Britain and Spain, raising serious questions about tourist safety, sexual violence prevention, and the role of social media in documenting and disseminating criminal acts. The victim's trauma is compounded by the knowledge that her assault was recorded and shared online, adding digital humiliation to physical violation.
