Gary Glitter, the disgraced pop star whose real name is Paul Francis Gadd, has been interviewed in prison by police over a series of alleged historical sex offences involving a girl aged under 14. The accusations date back to the late 1970s and early 1980s, with the offences said to have occurred at a residential property in Kensington over a period of time.
Police Confirm Further Questioning
The Metropolitan Police has confirmed that a man in his 80s was interviewed under caution in July 2025 in relation to the reported offending. A police spokesperson stated: “The investigation is ongoing, and the victim is currently being supported by specialist officers. Anyone reporting non-recent sexual offences will be listened to and supported.” The force added that over the past year, it has expanded safeguarding teams and rolled out training on victim approach, resulting in charges more than doubling for child sexual exploitation.
Current Prison Status
Gadd is currently serving a 16-year sentence at HMP Channings Wood, a category C prison in Devon, after being convicted in 2015 for sexually abusing three schoolgirls between 1975 and 1980. He was initially released from HMP The Verne, a low-security prison in Dorset, in February 2023 after serving half of his fixed-term sentence. However, he was returned to custody just six weeks later after allegedly breaching his licence conditions by attempting to access the dark web and viewing downloaded images of children. His application for parole was rejected in June 2025.
Ongoing Investigation
The Metropolitan Police has not disclosed further details of the latest allegations, but confirmed that the victim is receiving support from specialist officers. The investigation remains active, and authorities encourage anyone with information about non-recent sexual offences to come forward.
