Teen Escapes Balcony After Alleged Assault at Costa del Sol

A 14-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by three men at a hotel on Spain's Costa del Sol before jumping from a balcony in a desperate escape attempt, according to police reports. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday at a resort in Torremolinos, where the teenager is said to have been held in a room after first being forced to take drugs.

Dramatic Escape and Police Response

The girl managed to flee by climbing from the terrace of the room to a neighbouring balcony, an act that came after her parents had already reported her missing. The alarm was raised when a hotel worker heard the girl screaming for help and promptly called emergency services, leading police to rush to the scene as detailed by The Spanish Eye.

Arrests and Charges

One of the suspects was arrested on suspicion of unlawful detention, making serious threats, sexual assault, and drug offences. He allegedly threatened the girl with a knife and attacked her during the ordeal. The two other suspects, one of whom is a minor, were arrested on suspicion of unlawful detention and offences against public health. The nationalities of the suspects and the victim have not been disclosed by authorities.

Context of Recent Incidents

This is not the only incident of sexual assault reported at a Spanish holiday hotspot in recent times. Last summer, a 59-year-old British woman was arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in Costa Del Sol. She is said to have approached the youngster as she sat on a beach, speaking to her in English to 'gain her trust' before groping her. The teenager, an Italian national, ran to a nearby shop to seek help where a relative was working, and police were called. The Brit, who reportedly has previous convictions for other sex offences, was held in the same area.

Other Cases in Spanish Resorts

Meanwhile, earlier the same year, a married Irish woman was arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a man at the spa of a Magaluf hotel, where she is understood to have been staying with her husband. The 37-year-old was hauled to court after being accused of touching her alleged victim's genitals without his consent. She was taken into the court building in the Majorcan capital Palma by an armed police officer, highlighting the seriousness of the allegations.

These incidents underscore ongoing concerns about safety in popular tourist destinations, with authorities continuing to investigate and respond to such crimes. The recent case in Torremolinos has drawn particular attention due to the young age of the victim and the dramatic nature of her escape, prompting calls for increased vigilance and security measures in holiday areas.
