According to sources speaking to CNN, Brian Cole, a 30-year-old suspected anarchist, told FBI agents during lengthy interviews that he acted because he believed the 2020 presidential election was stolen from Donald Trump. This alleged viewpoint directly aligns him with the core belief held by many within the former president's 'Make America Great Again' (MAGA) movement.
The potentially explosive devices were discovered on January 5, 2021, one day before a pro-Trump mob stormed the US Capitol building in Washington DC. They were placed outside the Republican National Committee (RNC) and Democratic National Committee (DNC) offices.
