98-year-old's priceless bracelet stolen in Manchester

Police in Manchester are urgently appealing to the public after a 98-year-old woman had a priceless family heirloom bracelet stolen directly from her wrist as she rested on her walking frame.

Distraction Theft in Broad Daylight

The shocking incident occurred on Dale Street in Manchester City Centre at around 3:30pm on Saturday afternoon. The elderly victim was taking a rest when she was approached by two women.

Engaging her in conversation, the pair distracted the pensioner while one of them slipped the elegant golden and green bracelet from her wrist. The women then made off with the invaluable item.

A Priceless Loss and a Wider Pattern

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have described the stolen item as a priceless family heirloom that the woman had inherited from her mother. Its sentimental value is immeasurable.

Officers are investigating a report of a similar incident on the same day. On Oxford Street, across the city centre, two women targeted another lady. One attempted to remove her rings while the other acted as a lookout.

Arrests Made But Bracelet Still Missing

Following an initial investigation, Greater Manchester Police have arrested three women, aged 27, 33, and 35, in connection with the theft on Dale Street.

Despite these arrests, the distinctive golden and green bracelet remains missing. Police have released a photograph of the piece in the hope someone will recognise it.

GMP stated: ‘Anyone who recognises it, has been sold the bracelet, or otherwise offered it, is urged to get in touch.’
