A man has died and a woman is seriously injured following a hit-and-run collision in Birmingham, with police launching an urgent hunt for the driver who fled the scene.
Fatal Collision on Soho Road
The incident occurred on Soho Road at the junction with Whitehall Road at approximately 11:20am on Monday, 16 December 2025. A vehicle, identified as a Vauxhall Corsa, struck two pedestrians before the driver made off from the location.
Emergency services rushed to the scene. The male victim, reported to be in his 50s, was taken to hospital but succumbed to his injuries. West Midlands Police confirmed his death and stated that specially trained officers are supporting his family.
Second Victim Hospitalised as Investigation Intensifies
A second pedestrian, a woman in her 40s, was also injured in the collision. She remains in hospital receiving treatment for leg injuries.
Police have recovered the vehicle involved, which was found close to the scene. The major investigation is now focused on tracing the driver. Soho Road remains closed as forensic examinations and evidence gathering continue, with motorists advised to avoid the area.
Appeal for Witnesses and Footage
Detectives are urging anyone who witnessed the collision, saw the Vauxhall Corsa in the area around the time, or has any relevant dash cam or mobile phone footage to come forward.
