A 10-year-old boy is fighting for his life in hospital after a devastating collision with a car while riding his scooter in Stanmore, north London. The incident occurred on Sunday morning, turning a family walk into a scene of emergency and prompting a major police investigation.

Emergency Response to Honeypot Lane Incident

Police officers, paramedics, and the London Air Ambulance rushed to Honeypot Lane in Stanmore on Sunday morning following reports of the serious accident. The young schoolboy had been out on a morning walk with his family and was riding his scooter when a car ploughed into him as he crossed the road.

The boy received immediate medical treatment at the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital. His condition remains critical, with medical teams working tirelessly to stabilise him.

Arrest and Police Investigation

A 28-year-old man was stopped at the scene by responding officers and subsequently arrested on suspicion of drug driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. The suspect has since been interviewed under caution and released on bail pending further enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Nush Puvitharan from the Metropolitan Police's Roads and Transport Unit emphasised the gravity of the situation: 'Firstly, our thoughts are with this young boy and his loved ones at this very difficult time. A family had their lives turned upside down during a Sunday morning walk and our team are now working around the clock to piece together what happened.'

Appeal for Witnesses and Footage

Officers are urgently appealing for anyone with information or video footage that could assist their investigation to come forward. They are particularly interested in doorbell or dashcam footage from the Honeypot Lane area between 8.15am and 8.35am on Sunday, January 25.

Detective Sergeant Puvitharan stressed the importance of public assistance: 'It's imperative we gather as much evidence as we can to ensure we can build the full picture of the incident, and are encouraging anyone who can help to come forward and talk to us.'
