A young boy has tragically lost his life after a car crashed into a bottle shop at a bustling Canberra shopping centre on Sunday morning.

Details of the Tragic Collision

The devastating incident occurred at approximately 10.20am on Sunday at the BWS store within the Southlands Shopping Centre in Mawson. Emergency services rushed to the scene following reports that a vehicle had veered off the road and collided with the building.

ACT Policing’s Inspector Nigel Booth confirmed that the four-year-old victim was a pedestrian at the time. The boy was found with severe injuries caused by the impact. Paramedics provided urgent treatment at the scene before transporting him to Canberra Hospital in a critical condition. Sadly, he was declared dead a short time later.

Ongoing Investigation and Appeal

The driver of the vehicle involved was taken to hospital for observation and remains under medical care. Police are now investigating the cause of the crash and will prepare a report for the Coroner.
