Bolton Crash: Brother's Final Plea to Teen Driver Before Fatal Head-On Collision
Brother's final plea before fatal Bolton crash

The grieving older brother of an 18-year-old boy racer killed in a devastating head-on collision has shared their final conversation, in which he begged the teenager to drive more carefully. The crash in Bolton, Greater Manchester, in the early hours of Sunday claimed the lives of four people.

A Tragic Final Warning

Mohammed Jibrael Mukhtar, known as Jibril, was driving his modified Seat Leon when it collided with a Citroen Picasso taxi. He died alongside his friends, 19-year-old Mohammed Danyaal Asghar Ali and 18-year-old Farhan Patel. The taxi driver, 54-year-old father-of-four Masrob Ali, was also killed.

Jibril's brother, 21-year-old Miraj, who runs the Narkos High Performance Tuning garage where Jibril worked, posted screenshots of their last WhatsApp exchange on TikTok. The poignant message read: '180 mph one mistake tyre blows or car comes in front. Dead & in pieces. Be smarter.' In the caption, Miraj wrote: 'My last messages to him - Damn I wish he just listened. But he was only 18.'

A family friend disclosed that Jibril enjoyed driving at high speeds, causing concern for his brother. 'He had put out that post about him slowing down,' the friend said. 'Jibril had an accident in Bolton about a month ago when he flipped the car. He clearly had learnt his lesson. It's tragic he's now lost his life.'

Police Probe and Community Anguish

Following the collision, which occurred at around 12.45am on Sunday, police confirmed they are examining video footage. The footage, believed uploaded by one of the teens, appears to show the car speeding through a built-up area at 122mph at 3am on Saturday, less than 24 hours before the fatal smash. A family friend of one victim described the clip as 'stupid' and 'crazy', saying the boy's father was 'absolutely broken'.

Detective Inspector Andrew Page of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit urged the public to be mindful of sharing such footage on social media. 'Sharing such footage could constitute a criminal offence,' he warned, adding that the investigation is ongoing and witnesses are still sought.

The tragedy has sparked an outpouring of grief and tributes for the three teenagers, former students at Ladybridge High School. Friends of Danyaal launched a fundraising page in his memory, stating they wanted to honour his life by 'giving back and helping others in need'.

Residents' Long-Standing Safety Fears

The horrific incident has highlighted long-standing safety concerns for residents living near Wigan Road in Bolton. Locals report collisions happening 'every couple of months' and say they have been begging for traffic calming measures or speed cameras for years.

Their fears were underscored by a crash just before Christmas outside a primary school, only a few hundred yards from Sunday's tragedy. Debris from that incident remains, including a partially collapsed wall. Residents claim they have been told that because previous incidents did not involve serious injury, statistics did not justify safety interventions.

The human cost of the crash extends beyond those who lost their lives. Five passengers from both vehicles remain in hospital. This includes a 29-year-old woman in the Citroen who suffered potentially life-threatening injuries. Two other taxi passengers, a 28-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man, were seriously hurt.

Masrob Ali's daughter, Humayra, 29, described her father as 'the kindest man' and a safe driver, finding some comfort in the belief the tragedy was not his fault. As the community reels and investigations continue, the final, unheeded warning from a worried brother echoes as a stark reminder of the consequences of dangerous driving.
