Four victims of Bolton crash named locally

Four people who lost their lives in a devastating early morning collision in Bolton have been named locally. The fatal crash, which occurred on Wigan Road, claimed the lives of three teenagers and a man believed to be a taxi driver.

Details of the Fatal Incident

Emergency services were called to the scene of a serious road traffic collision at 2.44am on Sunday, 11 January 2026. The incident involved a head-on crash between a Seat Leon and a Citroen C4 Picasso.

Tragically, all three occupants of the Seat Leon, who were teenagers, died at the scene. The driver of the Citroen, a man in his 50s, was also killed. Five additional people sustained injuries in the collision and were transported to hospital for medical treatment.

Police closed Wigan Road for the entirety of the day as forensic investigators meticulously examined the wreckage. Officers remained at the location as the investigation into the cause of the crash continued.

Victims Named by Community Leaders

The Bolton Council of Mosques (BCoM), which is supporting the bereaved families, publicly named the four individuals believed to have died. In posts from its funeral services account on X, the community group identified the victims.

The three teenagers from Bolton were named as:

  • Muhammad Danyaal Asghar Ali, of Knutshaw Crescent
  • Farhan Patel, of Briercliffe Road
  • Mohammed Jibrael Mukhtar, of Junction Road

The driver of the Citroen was named as Mosrab Ali, of Ash Street, Blackburn.

Community Response and Ongoing Investigation

In a statement released earlier on Sunday, the Bolton Council of Mosques expressed profound sorrow. "BCOM is very sad to announce that there was a tragic accident early hours in the morning and the subsequent loss of four young lives," the statement read.

The council confirmed it is closely supporting the families and liaising with authorities, who it said were dealing with the situation "professionally, expediently and empathetically." The statement also requested privacy for the grieving families and asked the community to make prayers for the deceased.

Greater Manchester Police have not yet released an official statement confirming the identities or the precise circumstances leading to the collision. The investigation remains active as officers work to piece together the events that led to this tragic loss of life on Wigan Road.
