Drivers on the M62 faced delays of up to 90 minutes on Tuesday morning following a multi-vehicle collision near Warrington. The crash occurred on the eastbound carriageway between junction eight for Burtonwood and junction nine for Warrington.
National Highways reported that lanes three and four of four were closed, with delays exceeding 60 minutes initially and later reaching 90 minutes. Emergency services, including police, ambulance, and fire crews, attended the scene. A Cheshire Police spokesman confirmed that five cars were involved in the collision in lane four, but there were no reports of any injuries.
Recovery work was completed, and all lanes were reopened by around 9.30am. National Highways expected the road to clear between 9.45am and 10am. The incident caused knock-on delays on local roads, including the A57 and Cromwell Avenue in Great Sankey and Warrington, according to the AA Roadwatch.
