Toddler Opens Car Door on Motorway, Causes Motorcycle Crash

In a startling incident on a busy Malaysian motorway, a two-year-old toddler opened a car door, triggering a dramatic chain-reaction crash involving two motorcyclists. The collision, captured on video, resulted in both riders sustaining injuries, with police now investigating the case under traffic laws.

Dramatic Footage Captures the Moment of Impact

Shocking footage from the scene shows two motorcyclists speeding along Jalan Tun Razak in Kuala Lumpur on February 6. Suddenly, a two-year-old girl inside a car flung open the door, directly into the path of the first biker. The 25-year-old rider, unable to avoid the obstacle, crashed into the door, lost control of his motorcycle, and collided with another vehicle before tumbling onto the road.

Second Rider Unable to Avoid the Fallen Motorcyclist

In the chaos, the second motorcyclist, aged 30, was also unable to swerve in time. He struck the fallen rider, causing both to crash. Authorities confirmed that the 25-year-old suffered a broken arm, while the 30-year-old sustained minor injuries. Both men received medical attention following the accident.

Police Investigation Points to Safety Oversight

Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa of the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department stated that preliminary findings suggest the child safety lock feature in the car was not activated. This allowed the toddler to open the door from inside, leading to the catastrophic event.

He elaborated, "The 25-year-old motorcyclist, driving at speed, was unable to avoid the door and crashed into it before losing control and colliding with several other vehicles. The second rider, aged 30, was similarly unable to avoid the crash with the man."

Ongoing Probe and Legal Implications

Police have launched a full investigation into the accident, citing potential violations under the Road Transport Act for inconsiderate and careless driving. Officers are currently reviewing dashcam footage as part of their ongoing inquiry to determine liability and any further charges.

Recent Similar Incident Highlights Global Road Dangers

This accident follows a recent horrific collision in Thailand last month, where British man Tiger Duggan, 23, was left fighting for his life after being hit by an oncoming vehicle while riding a motorcycle. Initially feared dead, Duggan was resuscitated at the scene and taken to a hospital on Koh Samui island before being transferred to Bangkok, where he remains unconscious on life support.

His family from Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, hopes he will eventually be stable enough to be flown back to the UK for further treatment. These incidents underscore the critical importance of road safety measures and vigilance, especially in high-traffic areas.
