Two Boys, 7 & 9, Airlifted After Serious Dorset Crash Days Before Christmas
Two children seriously injured in Dorset car crash

Two young boys and a woman have been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following a severe road collision in Dorset, just days before the Christmas holiday.

Details of the Serious Collision

The incident occurred on Thursday 18 December 2025 at 9:13pm on the A30, between Castle Town Way and Oborne Road near Sherborne. The crash involved a Range Rover and a blue Renault Clio.

Emergency services, including air ambulances, rushed to the scene. The casualties included two boys, aged seven and nine, and a woman in her 30s. All three sustained serious injuries and were airlifted to hospital for urgent treatment. A man in his 30s, also involved, was taken to hospital by road.

Police Investigation and Arrest

Dorset Police have launched a full investigation into the circumstances of the crash. A man in his 40s from Yeovil was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving offences.

The arrested man was also taken to hospital for treatment, though his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. He remains in police custody.

Sergeant Dave Cotterill of the Roads Policing Team has issued a direct appeal to the public: "We are conducting a thorough investigation and need anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have relevant dashcam footage, to come forward immediately."

Road Closure and Ongoing Enquiries

The major route was closed for nearly 13 hours to allow emergency services to work and for collision investigators to examine the scene thoroughly. The A30 remained closed until 10am on Friday 19 December, causing significant disruption.

Police are urging anyone with information that could assist the enquiry to contact them. Key details they are seeking include:

  • Witnesses to the collision itself.
  • Drivers with dashcam footage from the A30 around Sherborne between 9:00pm and 9:30pm on Thursday.
  • Anyone who saw the driving manner of either vehicle prior to the crash.

The investigation into the exact cause of the serious traffic accident continues as the families of those injured face a difficult Christmas period.
