A father's world was shattered when his son was gunned down in a senseless Manhattan shooting—only to suffer a stroke hours later from the shock of the tragedy.
The victim, identified as 18-year-old Jayden Rivera, was shot multiple times near West 207th Street and 10th Avenue in the early hours of Sunday morning. Despite being rushed to hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
A Family Torn Apart
Jayden's father, 45-year-old Carlos Rivera, collapsed just hours after identifying his son's body at the morgue. He remains hospitalised in critical condition, leaving the family facing a double crisis.
"He just kept saying 'my boy, my boy' before he went down," a distraught family member told reporters. "Now we might lose them both."
Police Hunt for Suspect
NYPD has released CCTV footage showing a hooded suspect fleeing the scene. Detectives believe the shooting may be gang-related but haven't ruled out other motives.
Key details:
- Occurred at 2:15am near Inwood Hill Park
- No weapon recovered at the scene
- Suspect described as 5'10" wearing black Nike trainers
The Rivera family has started a GoFundMe to cover medical and funeral expenses, with the community rallying around them during this unimaginable tragedy.
