Thirteen men accused of being involved in a conspiracy to drug and rape an unconscious woman have been named after reporting restrictions were lifted. The woman's husband, a man in his 60s from Stockport, Greater Manchester, is alleged to have drugged and raped her between 2004 and 2025, and conspired with others to do so between 2018 and 2025. He has admitted some sexual offences but denies drugging her and the conspiracy charges. He cannot be named to protect his wife's identity.
Co-Defendants Named
The co-defendants, from across the UK, appeared at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court. Keith Fotheringham, 59, from Dundee, Scotland, has admitted assault by penetration, conspiracy to rape, conspiracy to assault by penetration, and conspiracy to administer a substance with intent to stupefy or overpower. He entered his pleas in February and will be sentenced later.
The other 12 defendants have denied all charges. They are:
- Karl Lindsay, 55, of Wordsworth Drive, Taunton – charged with conspiracy to rape, conspiracy to commit assault by penetration, and conspiracy to administer a substance.
- Daniel Rayner, 41, of Sherwood Drive, Whitstable – same charges as Lindsay.
- Graham Brougham, 73, of Birtwistle Road, Rudheath, Northwich – charged with conspiracy to rape, conspiracy to commit assault by penetration, and rape.
- Mohammed Sabir, 28, of no fixed address – charged with conspiracy to rape, conspiracy to commit assault by penetration, and three counts of rape.
- Jonathan Kirk, 43, of Telford Close, Macclesfield – charged with conspiracy to rape, conspiracy to commit assault by penetration, and rape.
- Sean Peers, 37, of Sandwich Road, Eccles – charged with conspiracy to commit assault by penetration and assault by penetration.
- Philip Wild, 58, of St Davids Road, Cheadle – charged with conspiracy to rape, conspiracy to commit assault by penetration, sexual assault, attempted rape, and assault by penetration.
- Jordan Wallace, 31, of Hindsford Close, Wythenshawe – charged with conspiracy to rape, rape, and attempted rape.
- Richard Townsend, 37, of Woodland Street, Heywood – charged with conspiracy to commit assault by penetration and assault by penetration.
- Robert Stewart, 70, of Sandpiper Drive, Stockport – charged with conspiracy to rape and two counts of rape.
- Alan Keelan, 42, of Foscarn Drive, Wythenshawe – charged with conspiracy to rape and two counts of rape.
- David Graves, 59, of Milton Avenue, Derbyshire – charged with conspiracy to rape, conspiracy to commit assault by penetration, and conspiracy to administer a substance.
Next Steps
All charges relate to the same single victim. A trial has been scheduled for September and is expected to last 12 weeks. A further preliminary hearing will be held at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on August 24.
