An 18-month-old boy has died after being left inside a hot vehicle in Plantation, Florida, when his father mistakenly believed he had already dropped him off at day care. Emergency services were called to A World of Discovery Academy on Monday afternoon after receiving a report of a deceased child in a vehicle. The Plantation Fire Department confirmed the toddler was deceased upon arrival.
Father's Fatal Mistake
Leslie Novoa, director of A World of Discovery Academy, told the South Florida Sun Sentinel that the boy's father had been due to drop him off that morning but thought he had already done so. The mistake became apparent when he returned later in the day to collect his son. Novoa said she opened the back door of the vehicle and immediately called 911. She described the child's parents as a "wonderful family" and said, "This is a tragedy that happened to them and to all of us."

Plantation Police are investigating the incident. The father reportedly believed he had left his son at the bilingual early education centre before continuing with his day.
