Police have recovered the body of a 15-year-old boy who went missing while swimming at Testwood Lakes, near Totton, Hampshire, on June 24. The search and rescue operation involving specialist dive teams concluded tragically after a person was recovered from the water.
A Leicestershire Police spokesperson confirmed: "Specialist police dive teams searching for a teenage boy following reports he entered a lake in Syston yesterday afternoon (Thursday 25 June) have recovered a person from the water. We can confirm it is the teenager known to have entered the lake and his family are being supported by specialist officers."
Emergency Response and Investigation
Police were called just after 1:30 pm to Meynell Lake, in Fosse Way. Officers attended along with Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service and East Midlands Ambulance Service. Initial searches were carried out, and police divers were called in to assist.
The spokesperson added: "There is no suggestion of any suspicious circumstances and a file will be prepared for HM Coroner. Naming will be a matter for the coroner."
Heatwave Conditions
The incident occurred on June 24, a day when the record for the hottest June day was smashed, with temperatures reaching 36.1°C in Gosport, Hampshire. The extreme heat may have contributed to the boy's decision to swim in the lake.
