E-fit Released After Clapham High Street Rape

Police have released an e-fit of a man they want to identify after a woman was raped in an alleyway on Clapham High Street. The woman, aged in her 20s, had been on a night out on Saturday, February 14, when she met the suspect outside a bar on the high street in the early hours, the Metropolitan Police said.

Details of the Attack

The victim and another woman went with the man, described as Middle Eastern or southern European in appearance, to a nearby supermarket. After leaving the supermarket, the victim became separated from the other woman. Shortly after, she was taken by the suspect into an alleyway behind the supermarket and raped. The victim was ultimately able to fight the man off and left the scene.

Suspect Description

The suspect was approximately 5ft11ins tall, of thin build, with thick eyebrows, a thick beard and black hair. He was wearing a plain white top, jeans and trainers.

Police Appeal

Detective Constable Kay Paterson, who is leading the investigation, said: “The victim in this case has shown tremendous bravery, coming forward in the wake of an appalling attack. She continues to be supported by specially-trained officers. “The rape took place in the early hours on Clapham High Street. The suspect and the victim moved between multiple premises – including a pub and supermarket, and we are eager to speak to anyone who has any recollection of seeing them. “Tackling sexual offending is a top priority for the Met, and we are releasing this e-fit to assist witnesses, or anyone who may recognise the suspect.”
