Gym Altercation Escalates to Weight-Throwing Assault
A muscular Texas gymgoer has been taken into custody following a violent incident where she is accused of launching a 25lb weight plate at the head of a suspected romantic rival. The alleged assault took place at a 24 Hour Fitness outlet in Spring, just outside Houston.
Aralyn Martinez, aged 24, now faces a formal charge of aggravated assault against the complainant, Cindy S Aguilar. The confrontation erupted on January 6, after Martinez reportedly recognised Aguilar as someone her partner was "involved with," according to information given to deputies.
Details of the Violent Incident
Law enforcement officers were called to the gym following an emergency report. The subsequent investigation revealed that an argument broke out between the two women, culminating in Martinez allegedly attempting to injure Aguilar by throwing a weighted exercise plate directly at her head.
A criminal complaint filed by the District Attorney's Office and seen by the Daily Mail states that Martinez threatened the victim, saying: "b**** I'm going to drop this 25lb weight plate on you" before carrying out the alleged attack.
Constable Mark Herman confirmed that the suspect was arrested and processed at the Harris County Jail. Her bond was set at $1,000 by the 488th District Court, which she posted the following day.
Bond Conditions and Social Media Clues
In setting the bond conditions, Judge Matthew Peneguy noted that alcohol appeared to be a contributing factor in the offence. As a result, Martinez is strictly prohibited from using, possessing, or consuming alcohol, which extends to any food, mouthwash, or over-the-counter medication containing it.
Additional bond conditions explicitly ban Martinez from:
- Using marijuana or possessing any weapons.
- Contacting the victim, Cindy Aguilar.
- Coming within 200 feet of the 24 Hour Fitness location where the incident occurred.
An X account believed to be operated by Martinez featured several posts about relationships. These included a repost stating, 'fall in love before you get too smart,' and another adding: 'I hate a lustful man. Did you even know how funny I am b****.'
The day after her release, Martinez reposted a philosophical message on Facebook that read: "I’m really a 'there’s beauty in everything' kind of girl, even in the lessons, the waiting, and the becoming." The Daily Mail has contacted both Aguilar and Martinez's public defender for comment.
