Two masked individuals climbed to the top of the Empire State Building in New York City on Wednesday, hanging a peace flag from the nearly 1,500-foot skyscraper before the man reportedly proposed to his partner. The pair were later taken into custody by the NYPD.

The intruders reached the pinnacle of the iconic skyscraper by midday on Wednesday. It remains unclear when they bypassed the usual viewing points. They were seen dangling from the top, accompanied by a flag emblazoned with the words: "When the power of love beats the love of power, the world knows peace." It is uncertain what cause they were championing or if they were associated with any group.
According to reports from the Mirror US, the NYPD arrived at the scene, and by 12:40pm, the duo began their descent. The man then proposed to the woman after setting up a camera on a platform from the 200-foot spire.
