The body of a newborn baby was found in a portable toilet at the Electric Forest music festival in Rothbury, Michigan, on Sunday morning, June 28. The discovery was made by an employee of the restroom vending company during routine maintenance, according to Michigan State Police.
Investigation Underway
Michigan State Police confirmed the grim finding in a statement on X, saying: "Michigan State Police can confirm that the body of a neonate was found in a portable restroom in the camping area at the Electric Forest festival Sunday morning." The agency added that there is no known threat to the public and no further details, including the baby's age, have been disclosed.
Investigators are seeking the public's assistance. "If you were in the area and observed anything unusual, or if you have information that you believe may be relevant, we encourage you to come forward," the statement read. They urged people to avoid speculation on social media out of respect for the investigation and those affected.
Festival Organisers Respond
The Electric Forest festival, held at Double JJ Ranch, features dozens of DJs and music artists. It started on Thursday and was expected to conclude on Sunday night. In a statement on Instagram, festival organisers expressed their grief: "Forest Family, it causes us so much pain to have to share this difficult news with you. HQ is heartbroken and knows that our Forest Family is as well."
The organisers also shared the police appeal for information, asking anyone who can assist to come forward. The investigation remains ongoing.
