Two teenagers arrested after a serious assault on a cyclist in Newcastle have been released on bail. The incident occurred on Thursday night on Claremont Road in Newcastle city centre, where a man in his 50s was pushed from his bicycle by a passenger on a moped, leaving him with life-threatening injuries.
Arrests and Bail
A 16-year-old and a 14-year-old were arrested on Thursday on suspicion of wounding with intent to commit grievous bodily harm. They were released on bail pending further investigations. The arrests took place at Walker Park, off Scrogg Road in the east end suburb, despite the incident occurring in the city centre.
Police Investigation
Two police cordons remained in place for much of Friday on Claremont Road and within an area of Walker Park. Northumbria Police are appealing for witnesses, particularly those with dashcam footage of the incident. A spokesperson said: "Witnesses, or anyone with information, should send police a direct message on social media or use the live chat and report forms on the Force's website."
