Violent boyfriend wanted by police for spitting in woman's face

Callan Paul Bennet, 38, from Liverpool, is wanted by Merseyside Police following a spree of crimes across the city. Bennet was previously jailed for two years and three months for a series of violent attacks on a woman, who the ECHO previously chose not to name. He knelt on her ribs, spat in her face, and told her 'you deserve this'.

History of abuse

Bennet exploited the fact that his victim was 'in love with him' to control her life. He threatened to carve her face and leave a 'snitch scar' in vile texts, and even wished AIDS on her. The couple had been in a relationship for around three years. On many occasions, the woman would contact police, then not provide a statement, or provide one then retract it. Bennet convinced her to withdraw allegations.

In April 2019, police called at her home after Bennet threw her belongings out of a window and found the woman in a white shirt 'completely stained in blood'. She alleged an assault causing a 'nasty cut' to her ear and said he took her phone. A Domestic Violence Protection Order (DVPO) was issued on May 4, 2019, preventing Bennet from contacting her. The attacks continued until October 2020 when he was jailed.

Merseyside Police issued an appeal on July 2, 2026, for the public's help to find Bennet, who is wanted for several counts of theft, robbery, criminal damage, and domestic-related stalking and harassment. He is also wanted for seven breaches of court bail conditions. Police describe Bennet as 5ft 9in tall, of slim build, with green eyes, medium length brown hair, and a 'greying beard'. He speaks with a Liverpool accent and is known to visit the Liverpool north area and city centre.

Anyone who sees Bennet or has information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Merseyside Police via X or Facebook with reference 26000525921, report via the police website, or call 101. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
