Major Police Investigation Launched in Swindon
A murder investigation is underway in Swindon after a woman in her 50s was found dead at a property on Baydon Close in the Moredon area. A 13-year-old girl has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident, which occurred on Friday evening.
Emergency Response and Scene Examination
Officers were called to the address last night following reports of a disorder inside a house. Upon arrival, they discovered a woman who was not breathing. Despite the efforts of emergency services, she was declared dead at the scene.
The teenage girl was detained by officers following the incident. Police have confirmed that there were no other reported injuries and that the victim's next of kin have been informed.
Appeal to the Local Community
The property has been cordoned off as forensic examinations and enquiries are carried out to establish the exact circumstances of the woman's death. Detective Inspector Darren Ambrose, from the Major Crime Investigation Team, addressed the seriousness of the event.
'This is a serious incident in which a woman has sadly died,' he stated. 'We have set up a cordon at the address while an investigation is carried out. I can confirm that we have arrested a teenage girl in connection with this incident and we are not looking for anyone else.'
DI Ambrose also made a direct appeal to the public: 'We would encourage people not to speculate on the circumstances around this incident. We appreciate the concern that this may cause the local community. If you have any concerns, please don't hesitate to speak to an officer.'
