Inquest Reveals Details of Teenager's Tragic Death in Surrey Park
A schoolboy teenager who was allegedly murdered in a Surrey park died from a stab wound to the back of his abdomen, an inquest has formally heard. The tragic case involves Luis Gabriel Guembes Quimper, a 15-year-old originally from Peru, who was discovered deceased in woodlands within Guildford earlier this month.
Coroner Outlines Provisional Medical Findings
Opening the inquest into his untimely death on Thursday, area coroner Simon Wickens stated that the boy's provisional medical cause of death was conclusively a stab wound to the back of his abdomen. The court proceedings revealed that Luis was born in Peru and had been residing in Surrey at the time of the incident.
The promising young footballer tragically lost his life on January 19 in Peacock Wood, located near Lido Road in Guildford. Surrey Police promptly launched a comprehensive murder investigation following initial reports of a stabbing incident off Lido Road.
Emergency Services Respond to Scene
South East Coast Ambulance Service and Surrey Fire & Rescue Service were both dispatched to the location. Despite the concerted efforts of emergency services personnel and members of the public who attempted to assist, the teenage boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
Coroner's officer Fiona Brown provided additional details, confirming that Luis's death was formally recorded at 7.17pm and that he had been identified by his mother, Silvia. A postmortem examination was subsequently conducted by Dr Anna Biddlestone at the Royal Surrey County Hospital on January 21.
Legal Proceedings and Suspects Charged
Two boys, aged 15 and 16, have been formally charged with murder alongside other offences in direct relation to Luis's death. Due to legal restrictions, their identities cannot be publicly disclosed at this stage.
Mr Wickens opened and subsequently adjourned the inquest pending further legal developments. He addressed HM Coroner's Court Surrey, stating: 'Two persons have been charged in connection with the death of Luis, therefore upon opening this inquest it's incumbent upon the court to suspend this inquest until the outcome of the criminal process.'
The coroner added: 'Therefore, having opened this inquest this morning, I formally suspend this inquest until this outcome.' The teenagers charged in connection with Luis's death are scheduled to next appear in court on February 23.
Tributes Pour In for Promising Young Footballer
Luis, who also used the name Gabriel, was described as a promising schoolboy footballer who attended All Hallows Catholic School in Farnham. He had achieved notable success, winning trophies while playing for several youth football teams.
In a heartfelt social media tribute, family friend Michelle Alayon expressed: 'Gabriel was an amazing son and an incredible young soul. He was kind, bright, driven, and full of promise. A devoted student, a passionate soccer player, and a loving son, Gabriel had a smile that could light up a room and a heart that touched everyone he met.'
She continued: 'He was deeply loved and will be forever missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.' Ms Alayon further revealed that Gabriel had moved to London from Lima, Peru, with his mother at a young age in pursuit of hope, opportunity, and a better future.
Community Support and Emotional Reactions
Ms Alayon established a GoFundMe page to support Luis's grieving family, appealing to well-wishers for assistance during this difficult period. She wrote: 'We are humbly asking for the support of our community to help cover funeral expenses and help ease the overwhelming financial burden facing this family during a time of profound sorrow.'
Friends and acquaintances have paid numerous tributes to Luis across social media platforms. One poignant message read: 'Long live Luis Guembes #forever 15 #stop knife crime.' Another simply stated: 'R.I.P my brother will always remember you.'
A concerned well-wisher commented: 'My thoughts go out to the parents, family and friends of Luis. What a b*****y waste of a life.'
Police Investigation and Local Impact
Surrey Police confirmed that two teenage boys were arrested on suspicion of murder. A spokesperson for the force stated on January 21: 'Two teenage boys have been arrested following the death of a 15-year-old boy in Guildford. Sadly, despite the best efforts of police, paramedics, and members of the public, the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.'
Local residents have expressed their horror regarding the stabbing incident. One woman described the event as 'very alarming', adding: 'It's absolutely terrible. I've never heard of anything like this happening in Guildford - particularly in this area. It's just awful. I walk in this park in the evening, even later than 6pm, so it's very alarming as well. It's horrible. I hope the murderer will be caught.'
The community continues to mourn the loss of a young life filled with potential, as legal proceedings progress in this tragic case.
